What is the Roblox Developer Exchange?
DevEx is the Roblox Developer Exchange program, Roblox’s system that allows users and developers alike to convert Robux into real cash.
This system is great for Roblox developers, and artists, as it incentivises competition, and creativity, with users constantly battling it out to stay on top!
The current exchange rate as of 21/05/2025 is 100,000 Robux = $350.
How do I qualify for DevEx?
Enough Robux Earned
- You must have earned 30,000 robux (from sales of clothing, gamepasses, developer products, etc.)
- This means that purchased/gifted Robux is not eligible to be DevEx’d
Check your Summary > Robux > Transactions to track it.
Another key point is that Roblox takes a 30% tax on all transactions, so if a player purchases an item from you for 100 Robux, you only receive 70.
Account Standing
- No recent Terms of Service violations on your account, meaning you cannot been moderated within (preferably) a 6 month period.
- Clean history – this meaning you should not have numerous violations, no matter how long ago they were.
Tax and Legal
- You must be over the age of 13.
- Fill out a W-9 (U.S.) or W-8BEN (non-U.S.) tax form – get a legal adult to do this for you if you are under the age of 18.
- Set up a valid PayPal account or another accepted payout method
- Roblox will collect this information securely, through their DevEx portal when you apply
This should go without saying, but you should also have 2 Factor Authentication enabled on your Roblox account!

My Experience Cashing Out Robux Through DevEx
In early 2024, I built a low-effort game called “Sky Jump Trials” — a casual obby with a few twists like double-jump pads and weather effects. I shared it on a couple of Discord servers and added cheap gamepasses, just to see if anyone would bite.
To my surprise, it picked up steam. Over the next few months, I earned a good 45,000 Robux, mostly from gamepass sales and some Premium Payouts. At that point, I figured I’d try cashing out through DevEx.
The actual DevEx process was smoother than I expected. I submitted the form, linked my PayPal, and waited. After about a week, the money landed in my account — $350 for 100,000 Robux (I waited until I hit that milestone). The only hiccup was filling out the tax paperwork, but Roblox walked me through it.
A Few Tips from My Experience
- Timing your cash-out helps — I waited to hit 100k Robux instead of doing a smaller exchange, just to make the payout feel more worth it.
- Make sure your Robux comes from actual dev work. A friend of mine got denied because he’d received a bunch of Robux through trades and gifts.
- If you’re thinking long-term, start keeping basic records — I made a Google Sheet to track what gamepasses were earning the most.
Cashing out was a cool milestone — the money wasn’t life-changing, but it was my first time earning real cash from something I built in a game. If you’re sitting on a solid amount of Robux, DevEx is absolutely worth checking out.
How do I Submit a DevEx Request?
Submitting your a DevEx request is simple and easy once you’ve met the eligibility criteria. Here’s how to do it:
1. Go to the DevEx Portal
Head over to the official Developer Exchange page on Roblox:
This is where you’ll initiate your request and submit all required information.
2. Click “Cash Out”
Once you’re logged in and ready, click the “Cash Out” button – as seen in the figure above. You’ll be asked to fill out a short application form.
3. Fill In Your Details
You’ll need to provide:
- The amount of Robux you want to exchange (minimum is 30,000)
- Your PayPal email address
- Legal name (must match your tax form)
- Country of residence
- Tax form (W-9 or W-8BEN depending on your country)
4. Submit and Wait
After submission, Roblox will review your request. This usually takes 5–10 business days, but it can vary.
During this time, make sure to:
- Check your email (including spam!) for confirmation or issues
- Avoid making changes to your PayPal or Roblox account while it’s pending
5. Get Paid
If everything is correct, your payout will be sent to your PayPal account. From there, you can transfer it to your bank or spend it directly.
Final Thoughts
Submitting your first DevEx request may seem daunting at first, but once you’ve done it once, it becomes routine.
Remember: Double-check all names and information. Ask an adult for help if you’re under 18. Don’t hesitate to reach out to Roblox support if something goes wrong. Be sure to check out our post on monetising your game, as this information will go hand in hand!
With a bit of patience and care, your Robux earnings can successfully turn into real-world income. Good luck, and happy developing!
